South Asian Weddings
I love photographing South Asian weddings because they feel like living, breathing stories—layered, emotional, and deeply rooted in tradition. From the very first moment I step into a South Asian wedding celebration, I’m surrounded by intention. Every color, every ritual, every gathering of family carries meaning, and as a documentary photographer, that speaks directly to my heart.
What draws me in first is the connection to culture and family. South Asian weddings aren’t just about two people getting married; they’re about generations coming together. Parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and friends all play an active role, and the love between them is impossible to miss. I’m always watching for the quiet moments—the proud glance from a parent during the ceremony, the way hands are held during emotional rituals, the laughter shared between cousins during a break in the schedule. Those moments are fleeting, and I feel incredibly honored to preserve them.
The ceremonies themselves are another reason I love these weddings so much. Each one is rich with symbolism, whether it’s a Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, or fusion celebration. I’m endlessly inspired by how intentional every ritual is—nothing is done without purpose. Photographing these moments requires presence, respect, and understanding, and I take that responsibility seriously. I’m not just documenting what things look like; I’m capturing what they mean.
And then there’s the joy. South Asian weddings are full of movement, music, and energy in a way that feels contagious. The dancing, the celebrations, the multi-day events—it’s a photographer’s dream. From colorful mendhi designs to vibrant outfits and beautifully styled ceremonies, every frame feels alive. But beyond the visual beauty, it’s the emotion that stays with me. The laughter during the sangeet, the tears during the farewell, the absolute euphoria on the dance floor—it’s all so real and so human.
I also love how South Asian couples embrace storytelling. Many of my couples want their wedding photographed in an honest, documentary way, where nothing is forced and everything is felt. That aligns perfectly with how I work. I want my couples to look back at their images and feel transported—to remember not just how their wedding looked, but how it felt to be surrounded by so much love.
Photographing South Asian weddings allows me to combine my passion for documentary storytelling with my respect for culture, tradition, and connection. Every wedding teaches me something new, and no two celebrations are ever the same. That’s what keeps me inspired, grateful, and endlessly excited to do this work.

I always chase emotion over perfection. It’s not just what happened — it’s how it felt: the tiny glance between partners, the hands that tremble during a vow, the dance move that makes everyone lose it.
