White Sands National Park - Engagement Session
There’s something undeniably magical about an engagement session at White Sands National Park—soft, endless dunes glowing under the setting sun, a quiet stillness in the air, and just enough adventure to make everything feel a little bit surreal. This particular session? It had all of that… plus a sword.
Yes, you read that right.
From the moment we met up, I knew this was going to be a fun one. These two brought such an easygoing, playful energy that made the entire evening feel less like a photoshoot and more like an adventure with friends. And when they casually pulled out a sword as a prop, I knew we were about to create something truly unique.
We started the session as the sun began its slow descent, casting that dreamy golden light across the dunes. White Sands has a way of making everything feel cinematic, and these two fit right into the landscape. Barefoot in the cool sand, laughing between shots, they were completely themselves—and that’s always when the magic happens.
The sword added such a fun twist. It wasn’t just a prop—it became part of their story. Whether he was playfully “defending” his lady or she was confidently holding it like an absolute queen, it brought out this spontaneous, imaginative side of them. It felt a little bit epic, a little bit whimsical, and completely them.
What I loved most was how effortlessly they leaned into the experience. There was no hesitation, no overthinking—just genuine connection and a willingness to have fun with it. Those are always the sessions that stand out. The ones where couples trust the process, embrace the moment, and let their personalities shine.
As the evening went on, the light softened into those pastel hues that White Sands does so well—pinks, purples, and soft blues stretching across the sky. We climbed a few dunes (okay, maybe more than a few), chased the light, and paused every so often just to take it all in. It’s hard not to feel a little awe out there.
By the time the sun dipped below the horizon, we were left with that quiet twilight glow, the kind that feels almost otherworldly. It was the perfect ending to an already incredible session. Wind in their hair, sand between their toes, and just a hint of adventure still lingering in the air.
Sessions like this are why I love what I do. It’s not just about the photos—it’s about the experience, the memories, and the little moments in between. Whether it’s a dramatic landscape, a meaningful prop, or just two people completely in sync, every session tells a story.
And this one? It was equal parts romantic, adventurous, and just a little bit legendary.
